New baby girl! LOTS of questions

dwcraig Sep 02, 2006 06:20 PM

I just got this girl yesterday for my 7year old sons birthday in a few weeks. Last night she struck at me while i was holding her and i dont want this to happen to my boy. I'm thinking it was just the move because it really was a small strike. I have a 4 ft male who has never offered to bite me so im wondering how much it hurts? What to do when it happens? How to try and keep it from happing? And while i know it will be awhile before she can mate how old should she be? Thanks for the help and enjoy the pics.

Some times babys are nippy and working with them will help with that. As for geting bit. . .feels like little needles. Dont really hurt unless they hit a soft spot lol.. . . like joints and thin parts like fingers. She was probly just nerves if it was her 1st night being there and is not use to the people. Let her clam down for a few days. If she is still that way just keep working with her she should come out of it. As for breeding some people go by years other say weight. The best weight is 1800 grams or so, the age really depends on how fast they grow. Some people have girls going around 18 to 20 months others wait 3 years. I have a few girls that are 4 years and still havent breed them. . . they will go this year thow, shes nice and big and mature for it. So its really all personal preference.
