TIMES-HERALD (Forrest City, Arkansas) 29 August 06 Car stolen after snakes used to help steal keys (Tamara Johnson) {excerpts}
A car was stolen from a local convenience store Sunday night after the suspects allegedly used snakes to scare the car’s owner away from her keys earlier in the day. The car was later wrecked during a police chase that originated in Lee County, but ended at a local housing authority.
Just after 5 p.m. Sunday, three subjects walked into Leake’s Kwik Shop at 1328 S. Washington, carrying baby snakes, causing the two employees, Bethany Hatcher and Tabitha Eaton, to flee to the back of the store.
A short time after the subjects left, Hatcher told police she went to get the keys to her 1998 Chevrolet Lumina, but could not find them.

The deputy chased the car north along the St. Francis River levee where he lost sight of the car and radioed to the FCPD that it may be traveling on Highway 334 into Forrest City. When officers positioned along Hwy. 334 saw the car driving into Forrest City, they attempted to stop it, but the driver drove into the Grobmyer Circle area where police reportedly saw four people run from the car.
…
Officers began chasing the subjects on foot, but lost sight of them until Willie Blackman, who lives in Grobmyer Apt. 328, came outside his residence and told police three of the suspects had run into his apartment.
Inside the apartment, police arrested Kendrick Coleman, 26, 333 Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Dr., Forrest City; Deuntarious Tiswell, 18, of Palestine, and a 15-year-old juvenile.
A fourth suspect has been identified as Alvin Tiswell, 18, of Haynes. He is charged with burglary and theft, according to the Lee County Sheriff’s Department.
