sliding doors vs hinged doors on cages

kuma Sep 03, 2006 04:58 PM

I am planing on building my sav a new enclosure for the time being 6"x3"x3". I can not figure out a couple of things. the doors, i can't figure out what would be better sliding doors or hinged doors. I would like some feedback on what type of doors others have and what they like or dislike about it. if sliding doors are preferred where do I get the tracks from that the glass slides in.

try using a window. they work very well for keeping in humidity. i would suggest going to all the different window shops around you and see if they have used or slightly damaged windows that you can buy for a discount.

I have sliding and hinged door. I prefer sliding, caused by a space issue (room too small). No matter what kind of door you take, mount them at least 1 foot above the ground (substrat) if you want them to close tight and don't want to clean the track everytime you want to reclose it.

thanks for responding. did you build your own cage? if so where did you obtain the tracks for your slidding door? thanks again

Sorry for the confusion... All my door cage are on hinged. My enclosure with sliding are glass sliding "door". You can take the track at construction supply, and they probably tell you more about doing a sliding wood door.
