The biggest four species of chameleon in the world are:-
Parsons
Spiny
Oustalet
Meller
but which one is biger Parsons
Spiny
Oustalet
Meller
or are they all the same size
All four species have a range of lengths and weights....so its hard to give a definite answer....it looks like Parson's are likely to win the contest from the information listed on this site....
http://adcham.com/html/taxonomy/species-taxonomy.html#Chamaeleo
Meller's..."Males may reach 24 inches in total length".
Spiny..."unconfirmed reports of males reaching up to 2 feet in length. However, it is exceedingly rare to see a specimen of 22""
Oustaleti..."This large chameleon commonly reaches a total length of 24 inches but even larger males have been reported".
Parson's..."Unconfirmed reports exist of specimens up to 32 inches"
Don't forget the largest of the African species, melleri. They can reach 24" TL too. Of the Malagasy species I think it is sort of a tie between yellow lipped Parsoni (parsoni parsoni as opposed to parsoni cristifer) and Oustaleti. Spinys (verrucosus) are only very rarely as big. Also, "big" isn't necessarily the same as "longest" as some species have a lot more of their length in tail, not body. The monkey tailed Fischer's can get over 20" but it's almost all tail. There are always exceptions. I've seen some really huge veileds and some small melleri, often these were captive raised. We can't give them the perfect diet and environment compared to the wild.
