Hostas??

snake_girl85 Sep 03, 2006 05:37 PM

Anyone know if Uros can eat hostas? I can't find anything about it, and we've got a ton of them... We're running out of hollyhocks and my boys are spoiled

First place I looked for answers were Doug Dix and Melissa Kaplans sites. As hostas weren't mentioned as safe on either, I dug a little further. This link is talking about plants and pets (to which I assume they mean mammals. Either way, why take the chance?). Copy & paste it into your search engine. Hope this helps.

i don't know about hostas, but dandilions have a longer growing season and most uro's are addicted to them. doug dix's site deerfernfarms.com has a list of known foods and pictures of wild flowers.

good luck

I'm not sure about hostas either. I just built a reptile garden with a Flowering Weed seed mix I got from a certain tortoise websitem, I don't want to seem like I'm advertising. Its actually growing rather well, and Its a completly edible seed mix including dandilion seeds (Which are hard to buy, lol I wonder why I would try something like this and err on the side of caution with hostas, you would figure they are so prevalent around the country someone would have put them on SOME list.
