what to feed

shaun59 Sep 03, 2006 09:48 PM

Im thinking about getting a savannah monitor, I was wondering what do you feed them? How much does it cost per month to feed one? Also the guy at the pet shop told me I could feed one low fat steak chunks from the grocery store, is that true? Thanks for any info..

Don't do it.

Try to stick with whole prey items(rodents, quail, chicks) and insects(crickets, roaches). Whole prey items usually offer more nutrition than a piece of steak.

you can also feed snails, worms, fish, shrimp, prawns, eggs, etc. but keep the diet whole prey items like holygouda said.
