Steve Irwin Is Dead. . .

. . .envenomated by a stingray barb, while filming a documentary in Australia. Heard it on TV, and googled it online to confirm.

The barb pierced an artery in his chest, and he bled to death before he could reach the surface. This is now the story forthcoming.

To many of us, Steve was an icon. To me he was also a person to respect and look up to. I was just looking at some of my Vivarium back issues, and read his monitor article (pre croc hunter days) and saw not just a celebrity as we now knew him, but also as a herpetologist who gave his life to animals and his kids. God bless Teri, Bindi, and Bob.
