what a sad event. of all the tv personalities that focused on reptiles Steve was imo by far the best. RIP

It's a shame too because he did have a deep passion for what he did. R.I.P Steve

He was a clown, but a smart clown who loved what he did and did it well.

He probably did more for the understanding of reptiles than all the rest of us put together.

My thoughts are with his family today.

Hi:

Very sad indeed

Steve brought reptile conservation to lots of homes around the world. Even if people still didn't like reptiles many watched his show because he was bigger than life, accurate, and entertaining. Our hobby was delt a big blow today. My heart goes out to the Irwin family and the staff of Australia Zoo. At least he died doing what he loved, working with animals.

Damned pity. I never expected him to go out in such a bizzare fashion.

MA and I were invited to work a month in his zoo a few years back--but had to miss it due to a legal issue at home.
Sorry I missed the opportunity.

RIP....Steve brought amazing and much needed attention to the need for conservation and education. And he did it in a way that captivated the general public, this is a tragic loss to the herp community. My thougts and prayers go out to his wife and family.
