Hi to all

Hi mates,
my name is Stefano from Italy. Due my passion for herps and the fact in those last years there is an availability of cyclura iguanas here too, I'd like to acquire a couple of cornuta. I'd like to let you see where I'm gonna build up the enclosure, just in order that you can suggest me. As far now would you please explain me as to post pics?
Thanks and cheers
Stefano

I have a friend in Austria that breeds them among other cyclura and also fiji banded iguanas. He is an honest guy and should be able to help. He is a certified CITES breeder of the fijis and some cyclura I think. You can learn a lot from his web site. http://www.cyclura.info. Good luck

Hi Tom,
thanks for your reply and advice.
Yes, I recently kept in touch with Juergen, and he seems really a very kind guy. He is one of the VERY few Cyclura breeders here in Europe and I'll go to him in order to buy my rhino couple.
Cheers
Stefano

If it works for Juergen, it should work for you. Congratulations on your commitment to have rhino iguanas ! I hope that they bring you many years of happiness, and good luck.

Hi cycluracornuta, thanks a lot for your greetings. I've already kept in touch with Juergen and we are just planning a visit at his private facility just to watch with my own eyes all the enclosure details I need to know to project everything in the right and best manner. I've been keeping and breeding Boids and very few other herps (some lizards too) in the last 15 years, but I feel extremely excited to start that brad new adventure as I'd never kept any herp! By the way would you please tell me what brand and wattage are those basking (UVB?) lights? Are those Osram Ultravitalux 300W?
Best regards and congrats for those REALLY impressive looking cuties you got there mate.
Cheers
Stefano

The bulbs in alot of my pictures were megarays zoo bulbs. http://reptileuv.tripod.com/megarayzoo.htm
I must say that since using them, I have noticed a very slight inprovement in color during the 7-1/2 months that the iguanas lived indoors. However, the iguanas preferred hanging out under non-UV bulbs that generate more heat, or when sun is shining through a window, even though there is no significant heat, they would go move to where the sun was and sit. There is no substitute for natural sun, and I don't feel any of the bulbs on the market even come close. The noon sun reading in this picture was taken in Guayaquil, Ecuador. If you follow Juergen's examples you should do very well. Congratualations again and good luck.
