green tree frog.... black???????????

smith710 Sep 04, 2006 11:51 AM

I have a green tree frog.... I looked at it today and hes almost black!! I don't know if this is a normal thing, but I have never seen something like this. It was bright green when I got it and I have had it for a couple of weeks. Is it a normal thing for them to change colors. Is it a sign of it being stressed or something wrong or is it just a normal thing?
Thanks

I also bought a Green Tree Frog about 3 months ago. He was actually a darker shade of green then the bright color I see sometimes. Now, for the most part, he is usually tan or brown. I have had several Green Tree frogs over the years that are extremey dark green, which sometimes makes them appear to be nearly black. Mine were fine and lived for over 4 years. Is your little guy eating? If so, don't worry.

why don't you post the conditions the frog is in as well, it may be an issue with humidity or lighting. My wtf goes from green to brown from night to day.

Yeah it is weird. My red eye will go from a light green to a dark brown! Freaked me out, especially since it was all in the same day! But most nights, seems he goes to brown and goes hunting.
