Reddish common snappers

Ryan Shackleton May 20, 2003 11:54 AM

Last winter I was talking to someone on the forums about a reddish common snapper that was living in a stream by my apartment-they were asking for pictures of it.
I lost your email when I changed computers and forgot to write it down.

That turtle made it through the winter, I saw it a couple days ago, and should be able to catch it for some pics sometime soon.

Yeh, common snappers come in different colors depending on there habitat. For example, if a snapper lived in a muddy stream or lake, it would tend to have a darker more brown shell. But on the other hand if a snapper lived in a sandy area, it would tend to have a lighter sand color shell. I have also seen some "orangeish" snappers in my area. They tend to be brighter in color when they are younger.
