Dark phase coachwhip?

SteveH Sep 04, 2006 05:37 PM

i rescued this hatchling from my cat who had chased it up a tree. it is from the houston,tx area where i believe we have both eastern and western coachwhips.(correct me if i'm wrong) my question is if this is the dark phase or can you tell when they're this young? are they usually born with their black pattern or change as they grow. i've seen both the solid tan adults and the half black and half tans in this area. thanks for any replys.

thanks JB, I haven't got him to eat yet. I put a few small frogs and skinks in with him but he doesn't seem interested. what did your hatchlings start on?

I had to pinkiepump them three times to get up body weight and they seem to be able to eat on their own now, the lizards are going fast...JB
