new idea for interiors???? any thoughts

johnnyblazekfd Sep 05, 2006 10:53 AM

My family runs a home improvement business and my Stepfather just recently went to a tub refinishing seminar. He has bought all of the equipment and is now getting into that aspect. Supposedly, my mother said he can refinish just about anything and she mentioned countertops, which got me thinking. I was wondering if you could use the tub refinishing technique on the interiors of the cages. She said it would cost about $50 in material to refinish a tub so I would imagine it wouldn't be that much more to do a bookshelf style 5 stack like I am building. I was originally going to go with formica or truck bed liner but im still trying to research and figure out the best option before I jump into a interior hastily.... any thoughts... Jon

I think there are quite a few more tub-refinishing options nowadays than when I looked into it. However, I do believe that most products require a stable substrate and cannont handle slight flexing, etc. that will be seen in a wooden cage.

Maybe see if you can have a test piece of material sprayed and then see how durable it is. I would spray a long piece and then flex it over several days once the product is cured.
