3 new babies

Pixilated Sep 05, 2006 12:19 PM

I had 3 eggs hatch over the weekend and am expecting a fourth to hatch soon. It was so neat to watch and very suprising. I was worried that none of the eggs would make it. These are my very first eggs and I had a hard time keeping constant temps. Will be better prepared next year.
Anyway they all appear to be normals but very cute with some slight color differences. Will try to post pics soon.
Just have 1 question tho. I keep reading about how they will live off of their yolk sacs until the first shed. I'm just wondering if it is supposed to be internal or is it something that you can see. The first one to hatch looked normal except for being small but the second one had a small ball looking thing hanging from its belly. I was worried about putting it with the first since it was a few days older so I left it in its own container but the sac kept sticking to everything, so I took the tp tube out and put some folded damp paper towels in and left it under a warmer. By morning the sac was gone, no sign of it, like it had been absorded. The third to hatch happened over night so I don't know if there was anything like that with it.
Is that how they are normally when that hatch?

Having a yolk sack not absorbed prior to hatching happens often and the hatchling will be fine. Just make sure you keepm them on moist paper towel until they shed a couple of times. This helps insure they get off to shedding correctly.

Congrats on your first babies, post pics soon. Well all love baby leo pics!
