What are your thoughts... CNN...

Psycodelic Sep 05, 2006 01:26 PM

Hi all,

I was shocked to hear of Steve Irwins death and went to CNN site to watch the report. For some reason I knew what the conclusion of the report was going to be before I even went to the site.

Do you think that people like Steve Irwin give the reptile hobby a bad name??? To me it seems like apples and oranges but to the rest on the world that might not be so.

What are your thoughts?

Thanks Greg Reinert

Tragedy. There were a lot of people who were afraid that his antics with dangerous reptiles might get imitators hurt, but in the end I doubt it ever did. I don't think he gave reptile keepers a bad name, if anything he made it cool to like animals again. Even animals that weren't "domesticated".

Personally I think it's tragic what happened, he's irreplaceable. The animals he helped, the people he brought joy to, and the continent he brought fame to. Every one's less because of this and the only good that could come out of this is that his soul rest in peace. I'm sure it is.

I don't think this would do anything to the reptile industry's reputation. Maybe the stingray industry...
