Great snakes and photos! So you must tell, what camera has such a fine macro? My digital is very nice, but I can not focus the thing that close to save my life. I have a great 35mm with great lenses, I can use that and have the "film" burned to a disc, thats the only way I have been able to shoot up close pics in focus! I hope everybody who sees them realizes how hard it is to get pictures like that-of live snakes- it ain't easy.

Thanks. I use a SONY Cybershot DSC-H1 camera with a SONY VCL-M3358 close-up lens. The neat thing about the camera is that it has an anti-jiggle function that reduces blurring due to random hand movements (I don't have a tripod). I also used a reasonably fast shutter speed (1/100 sec) with a flash. To get real close-ups I have to zoom the camera all the way in and then adjust the lens-subject distance by moving closer and further away (primitive, but it works). The special secret is that I take at least 10-15 pictures to get ONE good, in-focus shot. Then I crop it to narrow in on the subject -- this also reduces the image file size, which is necesary to post images in the gallery. You're right about the difficulty of getting snakes, especially small ones, to pause long enough to get a good shot of them.

Well, my camera is nothing special. It's a Canon Powershot A510, and I think it only has 3.2 megapixels. You are right, it isn't easy getting nice shots of these wiggly creatures. I usually take a few shots before one actually is in focus. It's still fun, though! Thanks for the compliments!
