found this large male in the outer banks. I've never found one this yellow before. I snapped a few quick pics then released him.

Without a doubt that is one of the most dramatic boxie color variations; I have seen.

Just breathtaking! Also very robust and healthy looking. I recently traveled to the outer banks. It was during that very dry spell you had. I was shocked that I didn't see any box turtles! Thanks for showing me my first banks box turtle.

Fantastic boxie!! I have never seen one that yellow.
It looks like he has an odd scut arrangement along his back. I wonder if this is in any way linkied to the unusual color. I often see pictures of "pastel" sliders with these odd scute patterns, not sure if it is due to inbreeding or incubation temperature. Anyway, a beautiful individual.

WOW! An almost completely yellow head! And it look like an extra vertebra or two, too.
