Hi, Can I keep a young chuckwalla in the same enclosure that my collareds are in? I currently have my collareds in a 75 gal with plenty of hides, rocks and crawling areas. I plan on building a custom terrarium cage for the chuck I am getting and was hoping they could all live together. I want to make sure everyone will be safe and happy. Thanks for your help!

Are usally fine together, both deserty lizards. Mine all get along fine when out running. The collareds bask on top of the chucks.

I personally see no problem since you have such a large tank and the chuck is so small yet , until you can get the cage for the chuck. Just keep an eye on things.

Only thing I would ask/ or be concerned about, is if the chuck was wc, and have you had time enough to make sure he is not sick in anyway or has any parasites that may cause any problems with your collareds?

Thanks for the great info. My baby chuck will be here next week. It's a 4 inch cb Nevada chuck. I'm not sure how old that would be. Any ideas? They have had the parents 3 yrs. I'm so excited to be finally getting a chuck after my long search for a cb. How long do you think I should quarantine my chuck for before introducing it to my collareds? Also someone once told me that collareds are lizard eaters and they kill anything smaller than themself. Is that true?

I change my mind and say no, I would not put him with them. I thought he would atleast be as big as the collareds. Collareds will eat Small lizards (Some of them) But I would be concerned they just may stress him or bully him if hes smaller.

Also you will be putting bugs in for the collareds, and giving salads to the chuck. Any stray insects may "BUG" the baby chuck.
If you have to quarentine the baby anyway (they usually say about 30 days) Then why not just have him in a 20 gallon long tank of his own, thats all ya need for a baby for now.

Again I had no idea he was going to be such a baby. Congratualtions ! I would opt for keeping him safe by himself, until a bit bigger, then let him visit, LOL

As always thanks for your help. I'll keep him separate for now until my chuck is bigger. It's hard to believe that collareds can be aggressive at times since they are just the most adorable lizards ever:0 Since you have experience with both I'd appreciate any tips or advice you can give on the chuck forum too.
