Plastic Tub for Indoor Enclosure

EasternLvrs10 Sep 06, 2006 09:12 PM

Hey:

Does anyone know if Bush Herpetelogial Supply still exisits in KS? I saw a web site that stated the indoor plastic tub they were using which was liki 6'l x 3'w x 10"h was purchased fomr them but i can't seem to track them down to find a contact number.

So manby of the retile stores deal with snake enclosures, I'm having a hard time finding something to utilize housing my babies boxies in this winter. I don't want to do the rubbermaid thing, I want them to have room and a good temp gradient.

Any suggestions would help.

Thanks
Melinda

I did some searching for you. You're right, I couldn't find them on kingsnake. I did find their website address, but it always takes me to a gardening site...strange.

Here's a link to the Waterland tubs website.

Yikes, they are expensive. I've never used these, but people at the Daytona show were drooling over them this year. I did find out that they have something in them that resists UV damage. I typically buy the sweater boxes that you mentioned for a couple bucks at Walmart. I have to change them yearly, though, as the UV lights break them down. I guess it depends on your budget. I'm sure that you could find a very large cargo box that would work. In fact, there are probably some that resist UV damage that are meant to be placed in the bed of a pickup truck. They'd probably be expensive too. Good luck with your search. Let us know if you find anything.

Ken:

Thanks for the reply. It is starnge I found that gardening site as well. I did check out Waterland and yesireee they are pricey for what I need them for.

So it could ptoentially be the old standy rubbermaid. But I will take a look at the sweater tubs as well. I also have seen feed holders at tractor supply store that may work and are moderately priced. I am still searching, wish I could find a hard plastic box manufacturer and I also thought maybe the type of item a pizza resataurant stores their dough in, they are hard plastic and square, but not very deep.

If I find anything out I will post for all to see.

Thanks
Melinda

Ooooh, I forgot about the cattle troughs. Yes! They are UV resistant. They come in a variety of sizes, and they are pretty cheap. Thanks, I forgot.

Those food grade plastic tubs are heat resistant, but I'm not sure if they're UV resistant. I could possibly find out for you, as I find myself in food processing facilities just about every work day. I know that they become brittle over time.

Thanks Melinda,
Ken

P.s. If you can get a digital photo of your little box turtles, most people on the box turtle forum love to look at baby pics.
