Eggs at 2 years?

Fourquet Sep 07, 2006 08:11 AM

Or Rhino's appitie has been decreasing over the last few weeks and and it has lost a little weight. We have been trying to get it to eat more but havent had any luck. Around the last week or so it has gotten very restless and finally last night it (she ha) layed 2 huge eggs. Is it common for a Rhino to cycle at only 2 years (we dont have a male, just the female.)? She is kept in a room with all of your breeding projects so we're thinking all the rageing hormones might have triggered her early.

Uhen does she turn 3 ? within the next 3 month ? If so, she is on the forward end of the curve. A well kept rhino will lay during her third or fourth summer, with a SVL of about 14-15". Depending on environment there can be a lot of variance in size. I have had 3rd summer females as big as 18" and as small as 12-1/2" SVL lay their first clutch. Can you tell us the SVL of your cornuta ?
If you are talking about an animal approaching 2yrs, that is very uncommon, sometimes occuring with cubans and hybrids, but very rare with rhinos.

She is an 04, and SVL is 13"-16".

Very uncommon. Put her with a male next May thru July, and you could expect her to lay 8-16 eggs atleast a week earlier than she did this year, Good Luck.

I saw your website name but I dont get the name, cloaca to me is the ass of a reptile, I did find something about it being a beast but it wasnt clear. I'm not trying to be mean, I'm just curious. Kevin

It's reptile ass. Flat out unbridled reptile ass. I find humor in it and its not something that people (who understand it) will forget in 5 min.

Hi Carole,
I hope that Diego and Kharma are doing well for you.
You should recognize the first picture(my post of Carla), but if you were the original photographer of Fourquet's second post picture(It does look familiar)?, then, it would lead us to believe that Fourquet is a phony.

Fourquet Sep 11, 2006 09:10 PM

But since its MY ORIGINAL PICTURE, and not lifed, the would lead us to believe that your accusation is moot, unfounded, and out of line. His post is clearly a reply to YOUR picture as its under YOUR post. If you really think its a stolen pic, by all means produce this picture that you find familiar. But I assure you its not the same. Those are just a few things that you might want to take in consideration in the future before you shoot your mouth off and portray yourself in a negitive light...

Photo piracy happens quite often and unfairly jumped to a negative conclusions. It won't happen again.

Fourquet Sep 12, 2006 09:25 AM

Thats all I ask.
