HELP!!!! SNAKE IS LOST!!!

i_heart_nagini Sep 07, 2006 11:29 AM

I've just discovered my snake is not in her cage. She could have been out and about for 2 days. I thought she was going to shed because she usually buries herself in the substrate and then comes out when she's going to shed. She did not come back out so I tried to find her, she's not in her cage!!! Lectures about getting better lid are not needed right now, i just need to find her!!

Where are some likely places she will be? What can I do to entice her to come out?

Please, please help me!!!

First you didn't say what kind and how big . This matters because it would lens a clue to where it went. To my experience-for example Kingsnakes tend to go low where ratsnakes tend to hide higher.

I recommend waiting till late at night when the house sounds have died off and then patrol the house with a flashlight. Sometimes you can catch them out that way. Look in drawers and under things and also inside any boxes or shoes at ground level.

Good luck,

Check in warm, dark spots. Behind/under the fridge is a favourite, and other similar places. When you have time, leave out one of whatever she eats on the floor in the room where she went missing and see if she comes out for a look after a while?

Good luck.

Look EVERYWHERE. The most unlikely places are often where they are.

I once had to disassemble and entire cage and rack system and found my sand boa under the bottom shelf, wedged between the carpet and shelf...I don't know how he worked is way down there, and under the shelf, but he did.

I have put a live fuzzy in a cool whip container without a lid and set it in various places where I thought the snake might be.

I would wait and check every 20 mins to see if the snake was there or had eaten it. It helps narrow down things and has had great success.
