more problems

jeune18 Sep 07, 2006 01:27 PM

just because summer has ended, it doesn't mean my reptile problems have. the other day i looked at lucia and the last inch of her tail had fallen off, a couple days before that she was peeling and i was helping her feet peel and i noticed they were bright red in between the scales.
griffin was having trouble walking, soaked him, gave him mineral oil and the next day his legs barely moved. he also lost the last inch of his tail. he lives in a different cage from lucia.
jolly has really red feet also.

someone mentioned scale rot which is also blister disease but this is unlike anything lucia and midge had before.

the three are at the vet and have been since tuesday. has anyone ever had anything like this happen before?

says ot thinks it could be scale rot/blister diease.

I hope I am wrong just sounds like cases I have heard of. Your one guy also just had mouth rot also right? Sure sounds as if there is too much moisture causing all these fungal problems.

You mentioned mold in the house, so it is a damp home? What kind of substrate do you have them all on?

Has the vet given you any IDEA of what they think is going on?

Dang Vonnie, this just stinks!

well of course you are the somebody well it is more humid here in SC than the last two places i lived but i bought ivan when i lived here years ago. she seems to be doing ok. it is more moist here. something has to change, even if it is taking them up to my mother. i haven't talked to the vet yet. i think i keep confusing the poor woman. although i left a note asking her about mold toxins. perhaps she is looking up that. basically i drop off the lizards and she tries to fix them and she calls me when she is done.

Geez.. I hope the vet knows what to do. With all the problem this year after you moved. You would wonder if there is some sort of environmental or man made toxin. They have to be in contact with somthing making them sick bio/chem.

All basic health requirments being met right? UVA/UVB and Heat lights, nice size terrianium, cricket being fed health food few days before feeding the lizards.

If all is true. Its gotta be some sort of outside the terrinaium contaminate.

I hope your guys get better Vonnie.

Oh boy--here you go again. Good grief, girl! What's with this string of bad luck you've been having?? I've never had this exact thing happen, but a couple of years ago I did lose part of one lizard's tail to an infection. It did not spread beyond the tail, though. I gave her Baytril and it stopped it. I don't know if what you're dealing with is bacterial or fungal, but I would go ahead and treat her for both.

Good luck.
