cage for colombian

tanman5192 Sep 07, 2006 02:44 PM

Hello everyone, I am looking at cages for a colombian boa that i'll get in in November and I can get a 421D cage from boaphile plastics plus proper flexwatt undercage heating for $230. Sounds like a good deal for me and I think that this size cage will comfortably fit an adult colombian boa. I just want to get an expert opinion.

Thank You, Tanner.

I have a 421d with double heat and it is perfect. If you are getting a female, she may need a larger cage in 5 years or so, but most males can live out their lives in a 421d.

hey Maizeysdad i was wondering if you could tell me where you placed the double probe in the 421 cage. Also how you attached it?
thanks

I have it under the cage. That's what Jeff recommends. Then I use an temp gun to judge the surface temp inside compared to the thermostat reading and adjust accordingly.

Just so i'm clear... you have both probes sitting underneath the cage?
My cage is flat on the bottom and placement of the probes under it would create rocking. And wouldn't the cage(snake) weight on top of the probes cause problems?

Check out "Animal Plastics", they have a "T10" that is 48"X 24"X 15" (and 18"high, with many options (heat cable routered into the bottom, multiple door options, locks, etc.) They have them on sale for less than $200! I have a bunch of their cages, and a couple of their racks, and have been very happy with them.

I'll link their website.
Hope this helps.
