I do believe there are no more exports allowed. I think it was 89 that Honduras quit exporting boas. I wouldn't trust a wc honduran, I've seen some advertised but they could never back up the source, I think it was based on looks.

Hi.

I ask this because i bought a pair of honduran Boa's as wc animals. But now i dont believe they are the real honduran Boa's
because the mail is 4 years old and is 6 ft long.

Also the male's head is different from a original animals.

And the strange thing is that they where imported from the usa to europe as real hondurans with a cites number and as wc animals.

So i have my doubts if everyting was done by the book.??
What do you guys think??

Thanks!

Can you post any pictures? Who did you buy them from? I wouldn't neccessarily consider the size to be a problem, I think Sargent stock get pretty big as there are both dwarf and normal strains from Honduras.

I can't tell for sure. They don't look like mine. Hopefully someone else can reply too. Check with Joe Rollo as well, he has some. Do they have the orange belly color? Check boa-constristors.com for pics of more localities and see what you think.

Ther belly's look more pinkies.not orange ore red.
Also the head of male looks very different than other hondurans i'v seen.

The female is very aggressive and opens her mouth and hisses a lot.she looks the same as the male.

The are both 4 years old and have the same length.almost 8 ft.

metalpest Sep 09, 2006 06:33 PM

How is the head different? I haven't paid much attention to head detail.

8 ft. is quite large, they would have to be the larger strain. Maybe post another thread w/ the pics asking everyone if they look like hondurans, I don't think anyone else is looking at this thread anymore.

Sorry i meant 6ft.If i look at other honduran pictures it looks like the heads are shorter than a normal Boa.And if i look at my male's head it looks like if it's a Boa cc.the mouth looks longer than from a honduran.

I found someone here in europe who breeds pure hondurans for a long time.I have send him the pictures of my male and he was convinst that the male is not a honduran.

So i contacted the person where i bought the pair from and he said you can bring them back if you are not sure about them.

So i desited to bring them back next week.grrr and try to find the real hondurans.

i will keep you posted.

Sorry about your luck. Hopefully it won't take long to find another.

What does he think of the female? Was it just the male that you want to return?

No i return them both.I have send an E mal to stockl from www.boa-constrictors.com. This is what he said.

Hi,
it is always guesswork to judge the origin of a boa by its appearence. If they were imported from Honduras as wildcaughts then there has to be paperwork (import permit, export permit, customs paperwork). Just let him show it to you.

Also, just make a google search as to the export quota of Boa constrictor from Honduras back in 2004 or check cites.com for this. I am rather sure that there is no export of wc boa c. from Honduras. If so, this would expose this person as a liar.

All the best
