I am close to purchasing a Western Hognose from a pet store. The clerk said he thought they had had the Hognose for close to a year but wasn't sure. I don't know if it was male or female.
It is about 12 inches (30 cm) and maybe as thick as my thumb. He dropped it on the hard floor from about chest height then was reluctant to just pick it up, but was just trying to herd it with piece of cardboard so it would not get away. This Hoggie might need a rescue.
By the time we had it in hand it was pretty freaked. It is a nice snake and did calm down after a while. It was more scared than angry. Very lovable snake.
I know they grow to about 2 Ft (60 cm) and females are larger.
Can someone post a pic of a full grown adult in hand (to show scale)? I have looked around the Net and I can't find pictures of an adult being held, lots of juveniles though.
Thanks
