oh ya, I forgot to ask you, is it ok to put my beardie in an all screen encloser? With the passing of my chameleon his 2x2x4 cage is unocupied. I was think about turning it on its side for my beardie to have a 4x2x2 home. I was wondering if it is safe or where it will have screen sides and back is that going to hurt his claws? I want him to be in a little bigger home (his current home is 3x2x16" but not if it's risky to him.

Thanks all for the praise. It feels good to know what advice I give is appreciated and helpful.

About the question about putting a bearded dragon in an all screen cage, the only real concern is toes getting stuck in the screening. However this can be prevented by lining the bottom of the cage and partly up the sides with something, either the plastic trays you can get for some screen cages (you can get some for the Exo Terra screen cages) or using a rubbermaid style container the same dimensions as the cage. Linoneum flooring could be cut to fit into the bottom of the cage as well.

A few other minor concerns about screen cages is heating. With the additional amount of ventilation, heat can escape alot faster. Also, depending on what the screen is made out of, care must be taken with heat lamps, as a hot bulb can melt most vinyl screening or the coating of fibreglass screens. The other concern is non metal screens can be chewed through by crickets which may result in having holes crickets can escape through.

Yeah the toe thing is what sacares me the most. So I am going to put vinly floring on the bottom, and line the back and side walls with aquarium backgrounds so he can't climb them. I'll give it a shot and see how he is, if anything arises he'll go back in his old cage, but I feel it should be good. Oh ya my cage is a metal screen, it's like widndow screen frames (aluminum)all screwed together. Also I should be good in the heating department it's always hot in my building =).

I agree, it takes a lot of time and often delicate diplomacy to moderate on a forum or list.

PHLdyPayne is to be commended for giving so much of her time to help others!
