What the heck is she?

anson Sep 08, 2006 01:13 PM

I got this girl last year. I helped unpack African shipments for a friend who imports and I get first picks. I get really nice stuff but I have never seen a girl with this pattern before? Anyone know what she might be? If she is anything. Sorry this is last years picture. She is pretty much the same but bigger and a bit less orange.

I don't have a clue what she might be, but I've not seen many normal bps with such a stark contrast between their side patterns and the initial belly pattern (the part that starts to white out as it goes dosn). That white in her is virtually pied white for a little bit, though obviously she's not a pied. Have any new shots you could share?

No I am on vacation and was on the forum due to rain but I will take more pics when I get home. She is very stark white down her sides. She also had weird grey faded spots all the way down her sides. She was also a bit of a slow grower but AIA now have her eating like a pro since switching to rats. She likes them much better. She did not switch for me last year but she took to them really well several months ago.

Very nice! Is it a male or a female? I tried looking it up in the "Hunters Guide" and the closest thing to it was a genetic reduced pattern but she is a bit different from that too.
Is yours an 06?

He is supposed to be a 100% het for pied I got from Ralph Davis but he almost looks like some kind of black pastel? What do you think of him? I named him Stanley. LOL Everyday the blushing on him gets lighter and his heaad is very light too but I donj't know if you can see it in the picture. Part of his pattern is like a black pastel and he has the squiggles around the pattern too and part of his pattern is like a normal.

Hi there,
Where did you find her? Nice snake. Not too sure what she is, but looks like a fun project.

I helped unpack the crates from an african shipment for a friend.
His wife was ill at the time so I helped out and he gave me first picks out of the crate. The other ones I got look like a pair of genetic granites a really nice black back maybe a yellow belly, what looks like a cinnamon pastel and then this one. I went through hundreds and hundreds of babies unpacking and setting them up in his racks for him. Here is the "God is good to me" part. I only paid $25.00 for each one.
He said he would never have been able to get in the shipment without help from myself and a couple of other guys.I definately have several possible projects for the future to play around with. Also at the time I did not know much about BP traits so I just tried to pick out pretty or different looking ones. I have a female that is probably a yellow belly that I picked out because she was pretty because of the yellow coloration on her sides. I also have a huge female that I got for free from a guy who no longer wanted her because she was too big for his kids. I thought she was not very pretty because she was a greyish drab looking brown color without a hint of yellow on her. Then I went to Daytona and she looks just like all the adult anxanthics I saw there. (sorry to anxanthic fans but she just looked really drab compared to all my other BP's)
If she proves out to be anxanthic you could knock me over with a feather. This will be my first year breeding her and my yellow bellyish looking female. Any hints on breeding or incubating would be really appreciated. I read the BP manual but there is nothing like hints from experienced breeders.
thanks
