Cali kingsnake bedding question?

Stryperking Sep 09, 2006 01:32 AM

What are you guys opinions about bedding for a Cal King? I've heard aspen and other things like that. But then I heard mulching is not recommended because it can get bacteria pretty easily. I have cage carpet in there right now but I kinda want to switch, and I don't want newspaper. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I use coconut fiber bed-a-beast. Basically a brick you soak in hot water, let it expand, then drain and let it dry (which can take a few days of sun). But I take Sophia out of her cage and feed her on newspaper since I don't want her accidentally swallowing any of it, same with any loose substrate. Aside from that one catch, it works quite nicely and looks a lot like dirt.
