Update on the four baby BP's from Hamburg:

longtang Aug 05, 2003 07:47 AM

As you know, I bought four BP's for $8 each. Three fed right away. There was some concern from some people here that the meals may have been too big. You guys had me worried. However, today, 3 days later, the three are doing very well. I am keeping my fingers crossed but I believe they will be okay. It is my experience that BP's will surprise you again and again on how big they can handle even as hatchlings.

There is sad news on the one that didn't eat. sHe passed away. I assist fed her but it was too late. Yesterday she was found stiff and dead.

It turned out that the ones that fed on the large meal are doing well and the one that didn't eat passed away.

Here is one that fed:
cheers.

I'm glad to hear that three are still doing well. I'm sorry for the one that passed....it sounds like it was too far gone before you bought it. Good luck with your other babies, and keep us updated with pics!!

Ball pythons can fast for a year without any ill effect and loosing a lot of weight. For it to get like that it must be starved for a long time, or it's loaded with parasites. I suggest you take it to a vet and have them treated them for parasites if you are serious in keeping them alive and healthy.

Hatchlings can NOT live a year without eating. I doubt it took too long for those bp's to start to look like that. Maybe a couple of months.
