You'll never guess what I bought today..

kellybee Sep 09, 2006 05:01 PM

Well I might have mentioned that the guy in the pet shop said he would reserve those Bicinctores for me so I went in today to pay for them. WOOOOOOOOOOHOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!! (And they have a sale on so I also got a 25% discount (Yay!)

I was horrified to see that they had been put in one of those Exo-terra glass vivs with artificial rock on the back (all glass with a mesh lid), with a UV strip and a heat mat. The UV bulb is right at the top of the viv which would be ok with a basking lamp, however they dont got one. I asked what the temperature was and he didnt know. The heat from that heat mat cant do a lot as it will rise and go straight out the top. No spot lamp to keep it warm, but they were active and were both climbing onto the UV strip where they had a little nap, it was quite hot to touch but not burn-ably hot, so i hope they will be ok for a few weeks til my new viv arrives.

My other option is to press the viv builder for a delivery date (He said yesterday that the viv "stack" is so BIG he doesn't have enough wood in the colour we want to build it, so it will be a while cos he's waiting for the wood to arrive) I can then put them into boarding with the guy I bought my scorps and tarantula from.

The reptile guy is great, really knows his stuff but in the middle of moving premesis this week so I figured I'd wait til he's all fixed before giving him more to work with. I really hope they are ok, my consolation is that the shop would likely sell the collareds with no spot lamp and no thermometer so I guess I'm doing them a favour. I really wish I could throw them in with Yoda and Yoshi but Yoda might eat them, their heads are only half the size of Yodas!! Plus after all the head bobbing with the original male i bought he's definitely king dingaling in his viv now. They should be able to hang on for a few days til I can get them in with the reptile guy.

What I need now are NAMES and lots of suggestions from fellow collared owners so I dont duplicate yours. PLEASE NOTE I REFUSE TO CALL THEM MANKY AND MINGING, Lol All suggestions welcome

" . . . he's definitely king dingaling in his viv now."

You always give me a chuckle when you write. I'll bet I'd be in fits if I ever heard you talk!

Congratulations on purchasing them. I'll bet they'll be okay for a few days. Heck, at least they have some kind of heat. My last two rescues had no heat whatsoever for at least two weeks, and they both survived.

I needed someone to tell me they'd be ok.

I dont mind you guys laughing at me, you all just go on ahead, lol.

I just like quirky words, and I often forget you dont speak the same way we do. I think you are just as funny with your Geesh's and Gosh's, and while we are on the subject what does Spunky mean? I dont get you guys either, lolol

I think spunky mostly means energetic--although I suppose it can have some sexual connotations to it, too.

C. bicinctores, very COOL! And GEESH... I think they have such a wild, exotic look to them as does the C. vestigium

Glad you got yourself a pair. Be nice to see them, LOL

They are really cool lizards. Different personalities for each of them. I hope you enjoy!

I was once going to name one Potosi (Poh-tah-see) after the mountain it lived on, it escaped my husbands hands. Hehehe, didn't need another lizard with the baby on the way.

Sincerely,
Nicole & baby Aspen
