Partially striped ghost...more

kirby May 20, 2003 12:23 PM

On 5/4 I found my 21 year old son dead from an apparent drug overdose. He and I were very close and snakes was one of the things we did together and really enjoyed. Sadly I will continue KRBS HERPS without him. On the early morning of 5/9, the day of the funeral, I awoke to see a litter of 32 babies from a dhet for ghost x anery breeding from the mother of the first ghosts and one of her sons. Several of the babies show striping and I am picturing some in these images. It was very fitting for the babies to be born that day and I certainly took alot of comfort from working with these new lives on a very difficult day.

That is a very sad story. I am unsure how I would handle anything like that. You certainly have my sincere condolences.

Also, very interesting baby boas, but what will they look like as adults?

Best wishes,

Gus

Thats really sad, sorry to hear about your son. My daughter (who would have been 4 this year) died last year from complications with her malpractice-caused disability (doc screwed up when she was born and admitted it later after a big fight.) So I know how it feels to lose a child.

Congrats on the babies-they are beautiful! I can't wait til my Sonorans breed for me.

Bill,
Bad times unfortunately tend to fall on us all. I'm very sorry for your loss and I understand the tragedy involved in losing someone to a drug overdose (several times over, actually). I also agree with you when you say that there is definitely comfort in new life beginning after another ends, especially so tragically.
Those are righteous animals Bill and the credit is due to you and your sons wonderful accomplishments with the parents.
Best of luck and I hope you continue to find solace in the beauty of what you and your son teamed up to create.
All the best,
Jonathan Brady

A friend of mine, Karl Gürtner of Munich/Germany suffered through the same fate.

Karl (he died last year at the age of 71) has been a well-known breeder of true surinam redtails and burmese pythons. He also lost his son due to drugs at the same age. And the snakes gave him comfort, same as you.

I just wanted to let you know that there are others with the same fate, and I want to let you know that you have my deepest sympathy and condolence.

Keep your head up anyway and have much success in your (our) beautiful hobby: breeding the nicest snakes that exists - Boa constrictors!

I am very sorry for your loss, and will remember you in my prayers, Bill. I am without a father because of drugs as well.... but I do not claim to even understand how you feel. I do wish you the best.

Your ghosts are beautiful.
