heat emitters.

im buiding a cage that is gonna be about 6'x3'x3'.i was planning on heating with a pearlco cermic heat emitter. but I was curious if anyone could help me figure out what watt emitter I should buy. thanks for any help

you could buy the 250 watt and plug it into a cheap dimmer from home depot. then you can adjust it accordingly

I think you'd be better served avoiding ceramic heat emitters entirely, especially with that size of a cage.

I'd recommend floodlights (not spotlights) of some sort.

CHE's will only raise ambient temps, which you should not need to do with a cage that size.

I used to use them, but they get too hot, and throw the heat off in all directions (eventually destroying the sockets they are in). I wouldn't use them now just because of the fire and burn risk (to you and the monitor), it's incredibly similiar to putting a stovetop element in your cage.

There are better ways, for a cage that small, I've never had a problem relying on the basking temps raising overall cage temp. If the room gets really cold, I'd suggest heat the room before messing with those things.
