I bought 1,000 mealworms from LLL. I let about 200 of them morph into beatles. I set them up in a container with chicken feed. Now I have small mealworms but they are morphing too early. The beatles are about 6X smaller than the original ones. Why arent the mealworms growing to an inch plus? Thanks!

Check your temperature. It may be too warm or cool, causing the mealies to accelerate their cycle. You didn't indicate whether you had any thing for moisture in the enclosue. You can use sliced potatoes or carrots. Good luck.

I put a wet paper towel in the culture about once a week. The temperature is in the low 80's.

Try to substitute the paper towel with cut potato or apple, and room temerature is good for them also.
