Breeding Age

I probably could find the answer to this with a bit of research, but right now, I am just too lazy. I have a three year old female braziilian rainbow boa who is about 1500g(or she was a couple weeks ago). I know she is pretty close or at breeding weight and age, but what I was curious about, is how old a male brazilian boa should be before breeding? What weight should he be as well?

I am not planning on breeding my female this coming season, but I am going to buy a male next month. I don't expect to see older males available (haven't seen them before in reptile shows around here, mostly hatchlings) but if I did see an older male, figured I should know if it would be worth buying an older male or just go for a hatchling and hope he is big enough to breed next year.

LdyPayne,
...A male will most likely not be ready to breed at 18 months. I only know of one occurrence in which 18 month old BRBs bred and produced babies around their own second birthday. Your female is just about big enough now and could easily be ready to breed this coming season. Most females are mature by 30 months of age and around 5.5 feet and 3.5 pounds. I think that most males are mature by (perhaps before) 30 months of age and a length of a little less than 5 feet. If I was you I would be looking for a two year old male to breed this coming season or a yearling male to breed 16-18 months from now.
Good Luck,
Jeff

Thanks for the info Jeff. I knew I should have bought a male rainbow during the winter, just didn't have the money at the time, sigh. Hopefully I will be able to find an adult male at the shows coming up in October in my area.
