Help Needed international shipping???

jack7777766 Aug 05, 2003 08:51 AM

Im getting ahead of myself but in anywhere from a few months to a year I will be returning to Panama, and of course Im taking my gex and other herps with me.
Someone told me I could ship them overnight, but I was wondering what custom problems might be involved. If I ship them straight to my house who should know UPS, the airport. Also is there anything besides shipping itself you guys have to do when you ship international.
I know how to go to customs when I go in the airport but since these will be shipped I was wondering how customs would work??
Will they stop my package or something??
Also what if I just dont say it has live animals??? If they arrive next day th should be fine right?? Do they open the boxes to see whats in them??

Thanks
Jack

Jack,

With international shipping it is a little bit more delicate. Although I do not have too much experience with International shipping, I can tell you that most carriers do ship internationally. But, all of them are subeject to custom inspection. You can contact the Ministry of Agriculture/Animals. A while ago my brother traveled with some Geckos to Venezuela. He got all the permits that he needed from there, and also they sealed them in the Venezuelan Embassy. He didn't ship them; he carried them with him in the plane. And 0 problem with Customs and Airline. I hope this works.

hey thanks for the reply,

When you said Ministry of Agriculture/Animals is that here or in Panama that I should contact??

Also since you said there are custom inspections Im guessing if I ship it theyll open it right??

I also remember calling AA or one of those big airlines and they told me they would have to go on a separate flight and It would cos about 100-200 per animal, so If you have any info on what airline your brother used, Although I already have a ticket.
Also any info on how he got them to let him carry it on the plane would be appreciated.

And what did you mean the sealed them in the embassy???

Thanks Allot Sorry for all the ?

Jack
