A Spider-ISH Surprise...

Exotics by Nature Sep 10, 2006 01:34 PM

Hello everyone,

I always see all these cool and weird things hatch from a lot of people. For those that don't know how I am... I am the ultimate pessimist. I find that it works for me not to have very high expectations. Somehow I am rarely dissapointed with the odds that I get I guess because of my low expectations.

In this business I think you have some good runs and some bad. I have just had a good run...

Pewter x Genetic Stripe - 10 eggs - 5 Pewters, 2 Cinnamons, 1 Pastel and 2 Normals all 100% Het Stripe.

Genetic Stripe to 50%PH Stripe - 8 eggs - 7 Stripes - 1 100% Het

Genetic Stripe to 50%PH Stripe - 9 eggs - No Stripes but 1.8 100% Hets

Hypo x 100% Het Hypo - 17 eggs from 3 separate clutches - 13 Hypos - 4 100% Hets

An this clutch... Spider x Normal - 9 eggs - 6 Spiders - 2 Normals - 1 ?????

When I cut the eggs I said... nice... 7 Spiders and 1 Normal! A few days later they had their heads out and I saw what looked exactly like a Spotnose? I checked my breeding records for the female and I never bred a Spotnose to her... that's weird!

Then it came out of the eggs and it was a Spider with normal looking paradox areas but a Spotnose head! How cool... I guess I'll breed him out and see if there is anything in there other than Spider and Normal.

Strange........

Good luck everyone... It sure is fun hatching weirdos even if they aren't inheritable!

Sean,

Great odds and WOW what a nice suprise! Send a little of that luck my way I'm still waiting on a few clutches and my odds could use a little boost!

Take Care,

That spider is defiantly cool looking. I would check and see if the female is not a shattern pattern. That or it looks like a paradox spider.

Great animal!

Paradox OR 'incomplete' Spider??

Looks like the Spider gene only got 80 or 90% of its 'job' done. With the areas of normal colouration and that 'almost a Spider' head pattern it looks like ....heck, I don't know. lol

Cool snake. That head pattern looks halfway between normal and Spider. Interesting to say the least.

Hey,

I have a kind of "wierd" spider sibling- no spider pattern except for the dark "moustaching" stripes that go between it's heat sensing pits and around it's mouth. I'll keep her and try to find a male with the same characteristics to have some fun.

That definitely has the spider pattern- I've seen some sold as spiders that had the spider head only and almost no spidery pattern, so I'd say yours is a spider- just different.

Nice!

Looks kind of like a granite pattern on her side. Really neat girl. Good luck with her.
