Quick Ringer Question

the_jackel Sep 10, 2006 08:23 PM

What is the value of a Ringer? By this I mean what are they good for in a breading project?

Just curious.

Thanks

IMO - ringers are nothing special except for the very few that are so high white that that they could pass as pied. Yeah - they've proven some ringers to be genetic - but I don't see any "value" to having a snake with a bit of white or smudged coloring on the side.

Who proved their ringers to be genetic??

I never heard that.

Sorry, can't tell you exactly -- just remember a couple of people posting that their ringers threw more ringers.

I've never heard of any ringers proving genetic.

Tom -

After a quick check back through the forum - there are severalposts where people have said that they either have ringers that have produced ringers or have heard of it happening. There is even one from Satan himself saying he had one that was genetic just hadn't figured out if it was dominant or co-dominant. You might want to check with him to see if he is still working on the project.

Hope that helps.

thanks,

I just never heard of any proving genetic.

I have a pied project so I'm not looking to buy any, it just surprised me after years of everyone saying they were not genetic, some prove out after all.
