small bugs in leo tank

cammyleon Sep 10, 2006 09:19 PM

I have two leo's in a sweater box with paper towels, coco huts, food, water, and calcium dishes. I saw some very small bugs walking around on the paper towel. I cleaned everything out but the still came back. I cleaned it all out again, but now they are back. Can someone give me information on some possibile bugs they could be?

Could you describe them a little better? Do you also keep crickets in with them? I've been having a problem with fruit flies lately, they are really small but they fly so these may not be the same thing.

My guess, baby crickets.

Could be fungus gnats? (those are very common around over watered houseplants.) I think we could guess all night without more information...

Color? Size? Flys?

They are smaller than fruit flys, they dont fly, they are gray or light brown. They move kind of quickly and they are not pinhead crickets. Thanks for all the replies.

Well, that doesn't sound like mites to me.

They could be wood fleas. They usually hang out by moist parts of paper, or woodchipped substrate. They are a [bleep] to get rid of because they'll come back as long as they have moisture. Hope this helps... Oli
