It depends on how far you want to drive...
If you are willing to drive two hours to herp, you can get to 277, Juno Road, Pandale, Iraan, etc and have a chance to see Gray-banded Kings, Trans-pecos Rats, Baird's Rats, Trans-pecos Copperheads, Rock Rattlesnakes, Black-tailed Rattlesnakes, etc. Some of the more interesting road herping in the US. If you are interested in trying some of these spots, look on the gray-banded kingsnake page (www.kingsnake.com/alterna).
If you don't want to drive that far south, TX 163 just south of Barnhardt and the roads east and south of Millersview can be interesting sometimes. Here you can find Bullsnakes, Western Diamondbacks, Massasaugas, etc. Not as interesting as the stuff down off 277, but certainly closer.
