Red Eyed, cheap Breeding project

pantera142 Sep 11, 2006 09:31 PM

Hello people, I have a plan to breed red eye tree frogs in a cheaply made environment. Please leave messages with answers and any concerns you guys have.

I plan to use a LARGE, clear plastic storage tub with a screen top, and a UVB light on top. Then fill it with a few plants with leaves hanging over a removeble dish of water. Will this suit the needs of the frogs for living and breeding?

Is the clear plastic storage tub a bad idea?

I do not plan on using a substrate for the bottom, to avoid cleaning. Is this a bad idea?

Will the frogs be happy and breed?

I am guessing that you don't keep Red eyes in general?

Regardless, they are not like other reptiles or even mammals, you don't just throw two in together and end up with tads. (Though that would be nice!)

I haven't bred any myself (just keep 2) but havedone some extensive reading on it.

Here is a great page for some info.
