Mexican Pines Size?

reako45 Sep 11, 2006 11:30 PM

My experience w/ Pits thus far has been all Gophers. I was wondering how big Mexican Pines (deppei deppei & deppei jani--- sp?)average out around. I read on the Pit page here that they get around 5.5'. Don't know how long ago that info was collected. Is it still pretty much accurate? I saw some (yearlings)offered @ a herp store, but they were pretty pricey. Probably a few of you guys who keep and breed these guys. Any nice pics?

I have a pair of deppei jani, just little uns right now but their parents (WC) were measured at 6ft and 7ft. I have heard that the average is 5-6ft however, and are slimmer than some other pits.
I'd love to hear from anyone else who keeps this species, they are pretty much unheard of in the UK and I dont know anyone else keeping them. I have found them to be pretty spunky as hatchlings and very amusing snakes to keep.

I've heard that they top out at around 5-6 ft, I can't wait to see how my pair develop. I'm in the uk aswell and I managed to get my pair more by chance than design, although they had been on the wish list for a while.
