I'm not totally sure but I do know that the will eat small fish, insects (spiders, crickets ect.) I think earth worms and slugs work as well you could also try pinkies. There price could range anwhere from 5-25$ I personally wouldnt pay more than 7 though. Anways their enviroment from what I've seen is relatively moist and grassy near ponds or canals and around debrie. I have also cought them on gravel roads near grass. Best bet is type in smooth green snake in the search engine and check them out. Hope I could help.

Green snakes are quite 'touchy' and really not a beginner snake. Highish humidity, loads of hides, plants, secretive. Soft bodied bug eaters. Crickets. Here smooths are indigenous so you can only buy roughs and they are around $20 but all wild caughts. I suspect the same will be true for you with smooths. And the kicker for me was that you get a wc animal that is infested with parasites and you need to worm and demite and often by then they die anyway.

Probably a better choice.....much more fun to hold and all at least. We really like ours.
