I have two cats in my house. I am not worried about them catching the cham, only watching him and stressing him out. Anyone have any experience with this? Should the cats be kept away from him at all times?
thanks,
Matt

try to keep the cats away. the cham will get very dark and try to hide behind a branch....meaning they will make their bodys as compact as possible to fit behind the branch...which i dont think is safe for their organs.
cats arent good for a chameleon to have in plain sight. cats are natural predators, and thier instincts will kick in when they see something moving. so they will go after it. chameleons would be cat-food in the wild. i have cats too, and i try to keep them out of my room. and its ok if chams make themselves all skinny and stuff when they are trying to hide, they were built that way.

Cats are notorious for sitting and staring at small animals even if they can't actually catch them. It will stress your cham to see an obvious predator watching every move.
My wife has a cat and he had a thing about climbing the screen. I would spray him with a water bottle (he hates it) and he no longer does it. When no one is home he goes in his cage or on the balcony (he hates that). I do keep a cover over the front so they can't see out the front.
By the way if you want another cat let me know lol.
I hate cats and his next stop is the shelter if keeps pushing my buttons.
Ahhh that felt good to vent..
It kinda depends on the cham. I have a cat that loves to sit in front of his cage especially during feeding time. I have sprayed him numerous times, yelled/screamed but he just sits there looking at me like i'm nuts. Anyway, my cham is used to him now. Even when eating, he will wander the bottom of the cage to get the crix down there and walk right by the cat in full color. I dont know of there is anyway to make your chams get used to cats,( or if mine is just blind) but he at least doesnt seem to be bothered by them. Hope that helps!
