To Breed or not to Breed

d3m0nhun73r Sep 12, 2006 02:09 PM

So I'm going to be getting a ball python as a pet in the next month or so. I want this animal to be as happy as possible, so I'm wondering how breeding or not breeding her will affect her temperment? Has anybody had experience with balls becoming agitated because of not being able to breed? Thanks.

Your snake will be just fine without breeding her as a matter of fact she will be more docile if not bred in most cases.

Good luck and welcome to the BALL game.

I'll second that. We have a few adult females that have never been bred and are meek as kittens. I would also say that unless you have the ability to find permanent homes for all the babies, it is usually a bad idea. I run a reptile rescue and we receive more than our fair share of baby normal balls (those and corn snakes, of course. ha)

cheers,
Kat
