Calico Chuckwallas

Well I took the plunge...

...and they are beautiful! The pair I got from Amazon Reptile Center and they are at least 1/3 larger than my biggest Angel Island (apparently I got the largest of the three pairs). They are beautiful for a crossbreed...retaining the Piebald coloring and size of the San Esteban (Sauromalus varius)and yet they are both very friendly and handable like the Angel Island Chucks (Sauromalus hispidus).

An excellent substitute for Sauromalus varius without having to wait a year and pay several hundred in licensing fees on top of the $1000 a lizard charge. I may go that route in a few years...but for now, the plunge was worth it.

If I can figure out how to successfully post images on here I will post a pic.

PS Apparently San Esteban (Sauromalus varius)have come down and are much cheapier than when I looke into them over a year ago...and the paperwork is not as bad as I was told but still the Calicos are a unique and beatiful animal all on their own.
