They want to sleep!

kellybee Sep 12, 2006 04:11 PM

I dont know whether its instinct or what but they've been sleeping earlier and earlier every day and they're very dull in colour, they permanently look like they do when they're cold (greyish), both have shed recently and they are still eating, but today Stuart got home at 16:00 and they were both asleep. Its been pretty much the same for a few weeks.

Still jumping around like nutters in the day but its intermittent and there's less digging, and they're definitely slowing down. Yoda crawled slowly out of his hidey hole this evening, ate a hopper and went straight back to bed.

Its too warm outside for me to turn the lights down and I refuse to put them in the fridge, hopefully in a month or so it will be cold enough for me to put them in my moms garage but in the meantime will I upset them if I keep the heat up?

i never brumate my lizards. i never change the lamp timers either. usually they will just go to bed when they want. kaiser is always a late riser. sometimes it will be 11:30 and that lazy little man is still sitting there with his head poking out of his hide spot. he in turn, stays up later. sometimes the lights turn off before he hits the hidespot and they turn off at like 9:30 pm.

i have others that seem like they are waiting for the lights to turn on in the morning and they go to bed alot earlier, between 4-6.

it really just depends on the lizard. now that it is cooling off most of them have cut their hours down. i know some days in the winter, one of my uros will just sleep all but like 3 hours and she is a very cranky girl when woken up so i just let her snooze

jolly snoozing with her sisters
