How soon to feed after brumation?

amy Feb 07, 2003 09:02 AM

I put my little kinked ghost corn into brumation about a month ago because he has never eaten on his own with the exception of once when he was a week old. I just brought him out 3 days ago and was wondering how soon to feed him. he should be up to normal temps in about a week so i was thinking that in two weeks to feed him? is this good enough or should i feed him sooner? later? thanks,

I like to slowly bring them back up, 1-2 weeks; others have simply just cranked up the temps and started feeding. I also like to give them a small meal for their first after brumation and wait until they pass that meal before increasing the frequency of meals.

temps here in Fl. raise quickly, i have noticed the lizards out and gobbling insects a day after the cold which are much more common occurance than snakes though a friend told me he found a wild corn at(or in ) his house just after the cold a couple days ago. so i figure once the temps are up they are ready to eat esspecially if their tongues are working.Chris in Miami
