Bird's voice treefrog

toof Sep 12, 2006 10:43 PM

After hearing the bird's voice treefrog's call the last few summers during trips to Florida and Alabama, I would love to raise some specimens. I've searched the web for sources but, I haven't found any. Does anyone know of a US source?

Thank you, toof

Yeah they're common in Florida and Alabama, lol

They have a great call. Do you ever come across the tadpoles? I would really like to raise them.

Did you have any luck on this? I am interested also. Also do you know any good sources for treefrog tadpoles in general - barking, pine woods or pine barrens treefrogs?

Not any luck in the least. I guess the natives are tougher to find than I originally considered. I agree with your thoughts that tadpoles are likely the way to go, if you can raise them to maturity. I've tried finding tadpoles in pools of water near areas with the Bird's voice treefrogs calling. So far no luck. The best I've been able to do is find tadpoles of the grey treefrog and the squirrel treefrog. I'll keep you informed if my luck changes.
