Albino Tiger

marksherps Sep 13, 2006 07:31 AM

This is a female lavender albino I recently got from Joe at Hellfire Reptiles. She is one of the sweetest most gentle snakes I've ever owned. Finding an equally nice male to go with her might be a challenge.

Hey Mark. She looks great. I don't really care for white phase albino tigers but the lavenders are definitely impressive. I just got ababy female het albino. I'm going to get a het tiger and male albino to make a nice little breeding group and work with the retic phases I like the most, normals, tigers and albinos of both. You still down in VA? Good to see you're getting back into the snakes. I just got moved back to Boothwyn, finally.

Hi Ryan thanks! Yes, I live on the Eastern Shore of Virginia on our family farm. Quite a different atmosphere than Philly! We have some amazing snakes and turtles in this area. But the one you like, the copperhead, has been impossible to find. They would be intergrades in this area but I haven't found any. Maybe next year I'll let you know!

That's great that you're back on your feet and re-established. I just got my dream job yesterday after 5 months of looking and waiting, so hopefully I'll be there soon too. I actually picked up a VA female copper last year at Hamburg. I've been looking for a female for my male for 4 years now and I know she's an intergrade but she's really nice looking. Nice cinnamon color to her bands and it kind of melts into a faint stripe down her back. So I figured if I couldn't get a pure Southern, at least I could still stay with the beauty theme. They didn't successfully breed this year, (although he definitely tried) but she had a litter of 14 last year so it's good that she had a year off. And it's not uncommon for them to only breed bi-annually anyway. This is my pair and the only Contorix I own right now.

They are gorgeous Ryan! I can't imagine finding them down here but they must be here somewhere. They are very secretive and most people that live here think the northern water snakes are copperheads so its tough to get accurate info as to where they are!
