Babiy sliders

davizona Sep 13, 2006 01:49 PM

We have two about a year old, we raised them inside in a 60 gallon tank. Mom and Dad live out in the pond, it's only a 300 or so gallon pond. When and how should we introduce them to the pond. Is a larger pond suggested? Dad is extremely territorial, he's lived in the pond for quite a while. Both mom and dad have free access to the whole back yard, they are always 'all over the yard'. The question is for the babies safety though, about a year ago we literally found another slider, he was much younger than dad and mom though, and dad killed him a few days after placing him in the pond. Any suggestions. The pic I'm attaching are the babies, they're both the same age believe it or not.

sorry for such a large pic, they're both 'sunning under the lamp'
Forgot to mention we live in Phoenix, it's beginning to cool a little, but very hot in the summer. We have extremely good pond filtration, and we change water every once in a while. We dont heat or cool the water, it is a very natural transition between seasons. Mom and dad have been living in our pond for about 5 years now, and both are doing very well, they appear very healthy. we feed them and the babies vege's, fruit, pellets. They love it all.
